# How to Secure Account

> Keeping your NexCloud account secure helps protect your servers, services, and personal information from unauthorized access.

### Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Enable **2FA** on your NexCloud account for an additional layer of security.

Even if someone obtains your password, they will still need your authentication code to access your account.

### Use a Strong Password

Use a unique password that you don't use on other websites or services.

A strong password should contain:

* Uppercase and lowercase letters
* Numbers
* Special characters
* At least 12 characters

Avoid using easily guessable information such as your name, birthday, or username.

### Never Share Your Login Details

Never share your NexCloud password, 2FA codes, recovery codes, or account credentials with anyone.

NexCloud staff will never need your password or 2FA code.

### Be Careful With Suspicious Links

Only sign in through the official NexCloud website or Client Area.

Be cautious of links sent through Discord, email, or other platforms that ask you to enter your NexCloud credentials.

### Keep Your Email Secure

Your email account is important because it may be used for password resets and account notifications.

Make sure your email account also has a strong password and 2FA enabled.

### Check Your Account Activity

If your account provides login or security activity information, regularly check for anything unusual.

If you notice suspicious activity, change your password immediately and contact NexCloud Support.

### Think Your Account Was Compromised ?

If you believe someone has accessed your account:

1. Change your NexCloud password immediately.
2. Change the password of your connected email account if necessary.
3. Disable or revoke any suspicious sessions or access tokens.
4. Make sure 2FA is enabled.
5. Contact NexCloud Support if you need further assistance.

> **Important:** Never share your password, 2FA code, recovery codes, or API credentials with anyone.
